List of KVG's Bharat Ratna, Padma Award and Sahitya Akademi Awardees


Chidambaram Subramaniam  served as Central Minister of Finance and Minister of Defence in the Jawaharlal nehru's cabinet.He was regarded as father of Green revolution of India. He was Nephew of Swami Chidbavanda of Ramakrishna Thapovanam. 

C.Subramaniam was awarded Bharat Ratna the highest civilian award of the Republic of India.

General Paramasiva Prabhakar Kumaramangalam, DSO, MBE, FRHS was the 6th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army from 1967 to 1969. He was among the last of the King's Commissioned Indian Officers trained in England in the Indian Army, and the last King's Commissioned Indian Officer (KCIO) to lead the Indian Army.

Gen. Kumaramangalam could have had it easy: his zamindar family was one of the “names” in Tamil Nadu; his father, P. Subbarayan (1889-1962) rose to become Chief Minister of the erstwhile Madras Presidency (1926-1930) and later, a union minister in the Nehru Ministry; and his brother, S. Mohan Kumaramangalam (1916-1973), was a seasoned politician who was a union minister in the government led by Indira Gandhi.

He was educated at St Hugh's School, while it was located in Kent, and had his secondary education at Eton College. He was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Woolwich as a Second Lieutenant on the Unattached List for the Indian Army on the 31 August 1933. He was appointed to the British Indian Army on 12 November 1934.

He received the Padma Vibushan in the year 1970.

Periyasaamy Thooran was awarded the Padma Bhushan the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India next to Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan at 1968. Thooran Chief Editor of Tamil Encyclopedia which contains ten volumes. The credit for bringing out the first-ever Children's Encyclopedia in Tamil goes to him.

Nachimuthu Mahalingam was an Indian industrialist, educationalist, philanthropist and prominent person in Tamil Nadu. He was the Founder-Chairman of the Sakthi Group one of largest conglomerate of south India.

N.Mahalingam was awarded Padma 
Bhushan in the year 2007.


R.M.Vasagam (Ramaswamy Manicka Vasagam) is a renowned space scientist/ engineer and is a Distinguished Alumnus of PSG College of Technology and IIT, Madras.
He successfully led APPLE ,India`s first experimental geostationary communication satellite as Project Director in 1977-83 time frame paving the way for indigenous technology base for state of the art satellites for communication ,remote sensing and meteorology.
His pioneering contributions towards attaining self reliance in inertial navigation and guidance systems, electro optical sensors and systems, onboard computers, avionics and electromechanical systems for launch vehicles and satellites are well recognized by various awards including coveted Padma Shree and IEEE Centennial Medal conferred on him.

He received the Padma Shree in the year 1982.



Kallipatti Ramasamy Palaniswamy(K. R. Palaniswamy) is an Indian gastroenterologist, medical academic and writer, Chennai.He is a former president (2004–05) of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology and a patron its Tamil Nadu chapter.

He received the Padma Shree in the year 2007.

Arumugam Sakthivel is founder of leading apparel export company Poppys Knitwear and Poppys hotel's. He  was instrumental in establishing Tirupur Exporters Association, widely known as TEA, back in 1990. He was the first President of TEA and held the post continuously for a period of 27 years.

He was honoured with Padma Shri the third highest civil an award in the year 2009.

Devarayapuram Ramasamy Kaarthikeyan(D.R.Kaarthikeyan) is a former Indian Police Service officer (1964 Batch and Karnataka cadre) from Tamil Nadu, and a former Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation and Director General, National Human Rights Commission.

Kaarthikeyan was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010 for his contribution to the field of Indian Civil Service.

Vallalarpuram Sennimalai Natarajan is an Indian geriatric physician, considered by many as the Father of Geriatric Medicine in India and known to be the first Indian Professor in the discipline.

He received the Padma Shree in the year 2012.







SKM. Maeilanandhan, is an Indian industrialist and founder of SKM Group of companies. He was honoured by the Government of India, in 2013, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the field of social service.

He received the Padma Shree in the year 2013.

P.Subramanian(late)  was the trustee of the Coimbatore Shanti Social Service Organization. Shanti Gears was founded in 1972 and grew exponentially by supplying machine parts to various countries.Subramanian started the Shanti Social Service which is engaged in various philanthropic activities.
Subramanian has been overseeing only Shanti Social Services since Shanti Gears was sold to another company.

He received the Padma Shree in the year 2021.




V C Kulandaiswamy was an Indian academic and author. He obtained his Master of Technology degree from IIT Kharagpur and obtained a PhD in hydrology and water resources from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (United States).
Kulandaiswamy created an eponymous mathematical model for the rainfall-runoff relationship based on a general equation developed by him. Kulandaiswamy was a member of the UNESCO planning group (1978) for the preparation of the second six-year plan (1981–86) of the International Hydraulic Programme (IHP). He has authored more than 60 research reports and papers in the field of hydrology.

He worked for reform of Tamil script to make learning Tamil easier. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award (1988) for his book Vaazhum Valluvam.
 
He has received the Padma Bhushan (2002) and Padma Shri (1992), awarded by the president of India.


Sirpi Balasubramaniam is a Tamil poet, critic, scholar and professor from Tamil Nadu, India.

Balasubramaniam was born in Aaththupollachi village in Pollachi Coimbatore District. He obtained his MA from Annamalai University and PhD from Madras University. He worked as a lecturer in NGM college, Pollachi. He then became a Professor at the Tamil department of Bharathiar University. He eventually became the head of the Department. He was a founding member of the Vanambadi literary movement in the 1970s.
 
In 2003, he was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Tamil for his poetry collection Oru Giraamattu Nadhi (lit. River in a Hamlet ). He had earlier won the Sahitya Akademi's award for translators in 2001 for his translation of Lalithambika Antharjanam's Agnisakshi into Tamil. He is the current convener of the Akademi's Tamil advisory board.

He was awarded Padma Shri at 2022
